Week 3 Challenge at Let’s Get Sketchy

Ready for my sketchy-fun?  I’m switching things up and working on my Florida Keys album now.  We love to go to Florida and December and I have to tell you, if you are from the Midwest, you are not used to seeing decorated palm trees and flamingos at Christmas, but I think it might be something I could get used to!

I used Week 3 sketch at Let’s Get Sketchy :

Week 1 Challenge at Let’s Get Sketchy

It’s no secret that I LOVE sketches and it’s also no secret that 2017 is my year to get caught up on my vacation albums!  So in the spirit of both…I decided to use this sketch from Let’s Get Sketchy:

and get some Disney scrapbooking finished up.  I rarely scrapbook just one picture, but the picture I took of the Liberty Bell just seemed to require it’s only page.  So here you go…

Getting caught up…

Trying to get caught up on some of those annual school photos.  Does anyone else have issues with trying to make each year not look the same?  I suppose I should’ve thought of that and just made them all look the same from the beginning, but where is the fun in that, right?

So when I saw the January challenge on the Picture This! Challenge Blog to use Mixed Media, I thought I would give it a shot.  So I got out my inks, paints, paper, chipboard, tapes and stickers and went to town.  I have to admit, I’m pretty happy with it.  I have also been trying to dig into my older stash for 2017 so I was able to rediscover some of my older stash…including an embossing folder that I am pretty sure I have never even used.  It’s so fun to use older supplies.  I always get so inspired from rediscovering older supplies…and it’s budget-friendly because it’s like getting new stuff without spending any money!

So without further ado…my layout…

Kinda Blue to Green…

Logan’s Marching Band season was exhausting and amazing all at the same time.  They did a collection of Miles Davis songs. The show was called Kinda Blue to Green as a play on some of the Miles Davis songs…one is called Blue to Green for those not into jazz music.  It’s not every day you hear a marching band do jazz music but they totally pulled it off.  Logan even got a solo part and it was a really cool addition to the show.  I was/am a VERY proud band mom.  This is him rocking out the marimba…his baby.  When I saw Brandy post sketch 258 at Sketches in Thyme I knew exactly what picture I wanted to scrap.  I even busted out my old stash for this occasion.  I have really been trying to give new life to my older stash.  Again, with Brandy’s inspiration to “use it or lose it” I’ve been trying to dig deep and try new things with my older stash.  It’s really amazing how easy it is to forget what you have when you haven’t looked at it for a while and how inspired you can get just by going back and digging into the older supplies.  And on the same token…if I find that I really just don’t feel inspired, it’s time to let go and make room for new goodies!  Who doesn’t like to shop, right??? …especially since there is a 30/30 challenge going on at A Cherry on Top right now and I am a scrapping FOOL!!!

Anny-whooooo…  here is the sketch…

and here is what I came up with…

The sheet music is actually from the show…proof that I am a true scrapper …cough…cough…hoarder…cough…cough. 🙂

On our first night in Mexico…the kids found a Discotheque that was kid-friendly.  Needless to say, they had a great time!  Unfortunately, it was pretty dark in there and I wasn’t able to get great shots, but as a scrapper, I scrap what I got!

Using the Jumpstart Sketch from The Scraproom

and flipping it onto its side, I came up with a design that worked pretty well with my pictures.  I was also able to dig into my stash (a goal I have for this year) and use up some of my older supplies along with some of my newer stash.  And this is what I came up with…

Let’s Go to the Circus!

I have to admit, the new Fantasyland at WDW is my FAVORITE section!  I know it is for little kids, but the Dumbo ride is a CLASSIC!!  And…they have a place where you can pretend you are actually on the ride…so of course I had to get in a pose!  This is my favorite ride after all!

I used Sketch 257 from Sketches in Thyme

and this is what I came up with…

Thanks for stopping by my blog!  Have a Magical Day!

Yep…more Mexico pcitures (I swear I am nearly done!!).  This time, I used sketch 120 from Sketch N Scrap and combined it with a challenge from Brandy at A Cherry on Top to use some die cuts to make a border.

Here is the sketch:

And here is what I came up with…

It was fun making the border and I don’t think I would’ve thought to do it had I not been challenged to use my die cut machine!
